DECEASED: Mr. A. Don Rivers, age 93, died Saturday, December 26, 2009 at Lake Wylie Assisted Living in Lake Wylie, SC.

FUNERAL SERVICE: 2:00 PM, Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at Chesterfield Presbyterian Church

INTERMENT: will follow in the Chesterfield Cemetery

VISITATION: 6:00 — 8:00 P.M. Monday, December 28, 2009 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.

HISTORY: Mr. Rivers was born September 12, 1916, in Chesterfield, SC, a son of the late Robert Edgar and Minnie Lee Sanders Rivers. He was a retired licensed Funeral Director and co-owner and President of Miller-Rivers Funeral Home Inc. Mr. Rivers was a member of the S.C. Funeral Directors Association and the National Funeral Directors Association. He was a Past President of the Chesterfield Civitan Club, former Chairman of the Boy Scout Committee, and a member of Chesterfield Masonic Lodge # 220. Mr. Rivers was a member of the Pee Dee Educational Foundation, which was the Founding Fathers of Francis Marion University in Florence, S.C. He was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran, where he served as Chief Clerk of Graves Registration in France, and was a member of the American Legion Post # 74. He was a member of the Chesterfield Presbyterian Church where he had served as Sunday School Superintendent, Deacon, and Elder. In addition to his parents, Don, was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn Gunter Rivers, and by his two brothers, Robert Wendell Rivers and Edgar Lee Rivers.

3 Grandsons: Trey Rivers and his wife Lindsey of Raleigh, NC, Brandon Rivers of Charlotte, NC, and Ben Cazalas of Charleston, SC
2 Great Grandchildren: Hayden and Madison Rivers of Raleigh, NC
2 Sisters-in-law: Catherine R. Rivers of Chesterfield, SC and Vivian G. Chase of Columbia, SC

MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Chesterfield Presbyterian Church, 209 West Main Street, Chesterfield, SC 29709, or to Hospice of Rock Hill, 2275 India Hook Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
