Mr. Charles Oliver, age 88, entered into rest on Thursday, December 13, 2018, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, December 16, 2018, at Hopewell Baptist Church by Rev. Phil Wyatt and Rev. Dan Austin with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Saturday, December 15, at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.

Mr. Oliver was born January 14, 1930, in Chesterfield, SC, a son of the late Clarence Charles and Inez Stogner Oliver. He was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church and a U.S. Air Force Veteran. Mr. Oliver was a retired employee of the South Carolina Department Of Transportation and a member of the Chesterfield Masonic Lodge #220.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and driving his tractor.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Oliver was preceded in death by his son, Charles Everett Oliver, his brother, Marion Oliver, his son-in-law, Larry Crawley, and his step-mother, Virginia Melton Oliver.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Birty Lee Smith Oliver; his four children, Debbie Crawley, Margaret O. Rivers, Donna O. (Louis) Rivers, and Charles Ervin (Tish McLain) Oliver, all of Chesterfield, SC; his daughter-in-law, Robin Oliver; his grandchildren, Matt (Jessica) Crawley of Chesterfield, SC, Michael Rivers, Jr. Of Sumter, SC, Rusty Rivers of Chesterfield, SC, William (Heather) Rivers of Chesterfield, SC, Sammy Crawley of Chesterfield, SC, and Derrick Rivers of Chesterfield, SC; his great grandchildren, Zack Blackwell, Sierra Rivers, Emma Crawley, Erin Crawley, Liam Rivers, and Lily Rivers; his brothers, Edward Oliver and Larry (Jeannie) Oliver, both of Chesterfield, SC; his grandchildren of the heart, Crystal (Daniel) McIntyre, Sheila (Scott) Jacobs, Tracy Spencer, Charlotte (Jason) King, and Sky Gainey, and his special pet dog, Dixie, and pet goat, Tee Tator.

Memorials may be made to Chesterfield County Council on Aging PO Box 45, Chesterfield, SC 29709 or to the Chesterfield County Animal Shelter, 467 Goodale Road, Chesterfield, SC 29709.
