DECEASED: CSM (Ret.) Albert E. "Gene" Davis, age 78, died Wednesday, October 24, 2012.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 4:00 PM, Friday, October 26, 2012 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel
INTERMENT: to follow in the Chesterfield Cemetery, with full Military Honors.
VISITATION: is 2:30 - 4:00 PM, Friday, prior to the service at the Funeral Home
HISTORY: Mr. Davis was born November 22, 1933 in Chesterfield, SC a son of the late George Abner and Leoda Leard Davis. He was a graduate of Chesterfield High School. Gene was a retired Command Sergeant Major with 39 years and 10 months of service, having served during the Korean War. He served 37 of those years in the South Carolina Army National Guard, and rose to the highest enlisted rank in the Army. Gene was the First Sergeant of Service Battery, 3rd Battalion, 178th field Artillery for seventeen years at the Chesterfield National Guard Armory, before serving as the Command Sergeant Major of the 3rd Battalion, 178th Field Artillery. He received numerous awards and citations before his retirement in 1993. Gene was of the Presbyterian faith. He enjoyed fishing and playing cards. In addition to his parents, Gene was also preceded in death by his brother, G. A. Davis, and by his sister, Jenny D. Wallace.
