Alvin L. "Skeeter" Boswell

Ruby, SC 

          Mr. Alvin L. “Skeeter” Boswell, age 77, entered into rest on Friday, January 26, 2024. Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at Ruby Baptist Church by Pastor Ronald Thurman and Brent Taylor with burial to follow in the Ruby Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 2:00 – 3:00 PM Tuesday, prior to the service at the church and other times at the Boswell home, 251 Hwy. 109 S, Ruby, SC.

     Mr. Boswell was born on April 7, 1946 in Anson County, NC, a son of the late Johnny and Essie Deese Boswell. He graduated from Morven High School in 1964 and went on to have a successful career as the manager of Lear’s IGA, where he served for over 40 years. Additionally, he was a member of the Chesterfield Masonic Lodge #220. For the past 13 years, Mr. Boswell served as a member of the Board of Directors for Sandhill Telephone Cooperative, and was currently serving as Vice President.

With a warm and welcoming personality, Skeeter never failed to make people feel at ease in his presence. He possessed a natural friendliness and enjoyed meeting new people and extending his help whenever needed. Known for his storytelling ability, Skeeter had a knack for telling jokes and occasionally playing lighthearted pranks. Those closest to him will remember him for his quick wit and his ability to effortlessly strike up conversations with strangers. Skeeter was also an enthusiastic collector of guns.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Boswell was preceded in death by his wife, Edith “Edie” Locklear Boswell; brothers, Robert “Pete” Boswell, Laurel “Dick” Boswell, and Warren “Cooter” Boswell; and sister, Donnie Faye Griggs.

He is survived by his children, Warren (Susie) Boswell of Ruby, SC and Misty (Danny) Watson of Summerville, SC. He also leaves behind grandchildren Bella-Claire Watson, Jaxon Watson, Zachary (Shelby) Boswell, and Nicholas Boswell, as well as great-grandchildren Weston and Hadleigh. Additionally, he is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
