Graveside services for Amy Pender, 63, of Justin, Texas are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Lexington Cemetery in Lexington, Texas with Rev. Dale Bohm officiating.  Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the cemetery.

Amy Rose (Matthijetz) Pender was born on February 15, 1954 in Giddings, Texas to Ernest Ewalt and Marie Esther Rosalie (Schiwart) Matthijetz.  Amy was united in marriage to Gerald “Wayne” Pender on August 11, 2007 in Lexington, Texas.  She enjoyed knitting, gardening, traveling, listening to music and spending time with her family and friends.

Amy passed away the afternoon of Friday, January 12, 2018 at her residence.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest & Marie Matthijetz, and one sister, Edna Pete Moore.

She is survived by her husband, Gerald “Wayne” Pender of Justin; son, Dustin Burell and his wife Alma of Houston; grandson, Ryan Burell of Houston; two sisters, Bernice Brinkman of Lexington, and Janie Hart of La Grange; brother, Eugene Matthijetz and his wife Karen of Hill; father-in-law & mother-in-law, Gerald and Dot Pender of Chesterfield, SC; sisters-in-law, Cindy (John) Beard of Chesterfield, SC and their son, Pres; Shelia (Ricky) Hodges of Hartsville, SC of Hartsville, SC and their son, Walker;  two nephews, Ernest “Mutt” Cherico and his wife Natalee of Lexington, and Terry Cherico of Giddings; one niece, Cheri Solomon and her husband Steve of La Grange.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas  75231 or to the charity of one’s choice.
