On Friday, November 6, 2020, Mr. Anthony McLendon went home to be with his Lord and Savior. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, November 14, 2020 from the chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Pastor Johnny E. Scott. The family will greet friends from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM Saturday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. McLendon was born December 23, 1958 in Chesterfield, VA where he grew up and entered the military. He served our great country proudly for 16 years in the U.S. Army until he was honorably discharged in 1996. Anthony began working for Prestige Farms as a truck driver and was employed there until his death. A faithful member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Mr. McLendon was a student of God’s word and was recently baptized.
Anthony was a proud soldier, father and grandfather, and a “Quiet Giant,” who will be greatly missed. He was an avid golfer, and also enjoyed gardening, and playing the keyboard. He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Claytes McLendon; and father, Robert McLendon.
He is survived by his children, Jessica McLendon of Monroe, NC, Tiffany McLendon of Jefferson, SC, and Anthony McLendon of Wingate, NC; grandchildren, Nashawn, Nyheim, Neqayvius, Nymir, Nariah, N’Jayceon, Takiyah, Latoya, and Milania; great grandchild, Anari; companion of 20 years, Mary L. Sanders of the home; sisters, Alice Lilly of Richmond, VA, Wanda McLendon of Baltimore, MD, and Renee McLendon of Sherman Oaks, CA; brothers, Bobby McLendon, Billy McLendon, and Robert McLendon all of Richmond, VA; and a host of extended family and friends.
