Barbara Cary Teal

Mrs. Barbara Cary Teal, age 90, went home to be with her Lord early Easter Sunday morning, April 4, 2021. A Celebration of Life Service will be 3:00 PM Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Chesterfield Baptist Church by Pastor Randy Bishop and Brent Taylor with burial to follow in the Chesterfield Cemetery. The family will greet friends following the service at the cemetery and other times at the home, 301 Turner Road, Chesterfield, SC.

Due to the continued COVID-19 risks, we ask that you practice social distancing at all times and refrain from any physical contact. The family would like for all attending the service or paying respects at the home to please wear a face covering.

Mrs. Teal was born December 15, 1930 in Daytona Beach, FL a daughter of the late Benjamin Cary and Helen Hursey Turner. She was a devoted homemaker and faithful member of Chesterfield Baptist Church. Prior to her declining health, Mrs. Teal was very active in the W.M.U., and was a former choir member, and former Sunday school teacher. Barbara enjoyed traveling with her family, especially those trips that involved cruises, camping, and reading. A devoted wife, loving mother, and proud grandmother, Barbara will be remembered for loving her family deeply.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Teal was also preceded in death by her step-father that meant so much to her following her father’s early death, Dr. James Ernest Turner; an infant daughter, Jackie Teal; grandson, Gary Brooks Plowman, sisters, Ernestine Turner and Jacquelin Turner Johnson; and brother, James Johnson Turner.

Survivors include her beloved husband of nearly 72 years, Charlie Brooks Teal of the home; daughters, Helen Teal Mangum of Charlotte, NC; and Debbie Teal Woodward of Chesterfield, SC; grandchildren, Jennifer Mangum, and Meredith Mangum (Jason) Deaner; sisters, Allianne (Howard) Duvall of Columbia, SC, and Frances Scott “Scottie” (Tim) Moore of Barnwell, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff of McLeod Hospice House, Hospice Home Health, and various other medical staff for the love and care shown to Mrs. Teal and her family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
