On February 23, 2018 Sonny entered into the gates of Heaven a healed man. He fought a brave and courageous battle with disabilities for over two years.
Sonny was born in Florence Co. SC a son of Mary Emma “Emo” Hinnant Coleman and the late Bassil M. “Mr. Coochie” Coleman. He was a member of Willow Creek Baptist Church in Pamplico and a member of the Pamplico Masonic Lodge. Sonny was one of the “Great” ones. He was loved by all that knew him. His favorite past times included watching old movies, riding, going for milkshakes, making people laugh and spending time with Dustin and with his grandchildren. He will surely be missed by the many people who loved him and cared for him.
Surviving are his wife, Norma jean Williams Coleman of Pamplico; son, Dustin (Megan) Coleman of Pamplico; daughters, Elizabeth (Daniel) Catoe of Pageland, SC and Abigail (Anthony) Hendrix of Hauppauge, NY; grandchildren, Elijah and Asa Catoe of Pageland; brother, Arthur L. “Ossie” Coleman of Pamplico; sister, Lauralu Walker of Florence; nephews, Travis (Heather) Walker of Florence, and Joshua (Carrie) Kearns and their daughter, Chloe, of Pageland; niece, Stacy (Joey) Griffin of Pageland and special friend, Roger (Myra) Bazen of Coward, SC.
The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 PM Sunday at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, February 26, 2018 at Willow Creek Baptist Church in Pamplico, SC. Graveside services will be held at 4:00 PM Monday at Union Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Pageland, SC directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
