Mr. Baxter V. “Bo” Melton, age 90, entered into rest on Friday, August 13, 2021. Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, August 15, 2021 at White Oak Presbyterian Church Cemetery by Rev. Charlie Short. The family will greet friends following the service at the cemetery.
Due to COVID-19 regulations, our staff is committed to taking care of our guests and families that we serve. We also ask all guests and family members attending visitations and services to please continue social distancing and face coverings are strongly encouraged.
Mr. Melton was born February 5, 1931 in Ruby, SC a son of the late Kirby C. and Addie Rhyne Melton. He was a retired employee of Cannon Mills with over 30 years of service and the retired owner and operator of Bo’s Produce in Chesterfield for over 27 years. A faithful member of White Oak Presbyterian Church, Bo served as a former Men’s Sunday School teacher, Elder, Deacon, Session member, Cemetery Committee member, and on various other committees through the years. A man who never met a stranger, “Mr. Bo” was truly a friend to all.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Melton was also preceded in death by his brothers, Jerome Melton, and K.C. Melton.
Survivors include his beloved wife of nearly 73 years, Frances Melton of the home; children, Brenda Melton (Larry) Biggers of West Union, SC, Richard “Rick” (Denise) Melton of Wadesboro, NC, and Regina Melton (Don) Prunty of Vinton, VA; grandchildren, Susan (Mark) Merrill, Melissa (Tim) Manning, Shanna (Dustin) Jackson, Kayla (Travis) Marsh, Beau (Raven) Melton, and Ciara Melton; 9 great grandchildren; brothers, Troy (Doris) Melton, and Maurice “Bud” Melton; sisters, Estelle Sullivan, and Betty Short; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express a special Thank You to caregivers, Margie Jordan, Darlene Stogner, Jean Melton, Darlene Myers, Audrey Powell, Janice Palmer, Heather Cope, the staff of Compassion Home Care, FirstLight Home Care of Lancaster, and the staff and administration of Cheraw Health Care for the extraordinary love and care shown to Mr. Bo and their family.
