Mrs. Bennie Lou Shaw Moore, age 83, affectionately known as “Toonie,” peacefully entered into rest on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at her home. A Celebration of Life service is scheduled to be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, February 3, 2025, in the chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home, officiated by Brent Taylor. The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.
Born on December 17, 1941, in Chesterfield, SC, Mrs. Moore was the daughter of the late Robert Roy and Mary Luella Tucker Shaw. She was a long-time employee of INA Bearing before her retirement. Faith played an important role in her life; she was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Cheraw as well as a former member of Faith Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Moore had a vibrant spirit, with a fondness for shopping that led her to be well-known by name at the local Walmart in Cheraw. Her interests included collecting birdhouses and adorning herself with glitzy jewelry and "good smelling & long lasting" perfume. Above all, her cherished role as "Nanny" to her grandchildren brought her immense joy and pride.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her son, Anthony Hart Moore, and her siblings: Dale Shaw, Gene Shaw, Buddy Shaw, Wayne Shaw, Josephine “Joker” Poole, Betty Johnson, Sara “Fuzzy” Sellers, and Deborah "Debbie" Shaw Rivers.
She is survived by her husband of over 60 years, Benny Hart Moore, of the home; her son Chris (Patricia) Moore of Cheraw, SC; grandchildren Kirk Anthony (Alisha) Sims, Evan Renee Sims, and Denim (Bernard) Robinson; great-grandchildren Peyton Johnson, Dawson Sims, Trenton English, Ma’Kynslee Robinson, and Kennedy Robinson; as well as her siblings Sylvia (Al) Huggins of Chesterfield, SC, Bonnie (Pat) Millican of Bend, TX, Annie Freeman of Pageland, SC, and Rachel (Tim) White of Cordell, OK. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Agape Hospice for the exceptional love and care provided during this time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Duke Cancer Center (www.dukehealth.org).
Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home (www.mrcfuneralhome.com) of Chesterfield, SC, is serving the Moore family.
