 Mrs. Betty Oliver Johnson Agnew, age 94, entered into rest on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Sunday, January 26, 2025 at Fairview Baptist Church by Pastor Kyle Oliver and the Honorable Rep. Pastor Richie Yow with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends from 2:00 – 3:00 PM Sunday, prior to the service at the church. 

 

Mrs. Agnew was born December 24, 1930 in Ruby, SC a daughter of the late Claud Lester and Mary Ann Hicks Oliver. She was a retired employee of Robeson Manufacturing and a member of Fairview Baptist Church where she enjoyed worshipping and singing in the choir. 

 

Known as a lady who was a hard worker her entire life, Mrs. Betty enjoyed sewing, knitting, and crocheting. Cooking held a special place in her heart, particularly when it came to hosting Sunday dinners for her family—a tradition that brought her great joy. Above all, she embraced her role as "Ganny" with pride, delighting in her grandchildren's achievements and presence.


In addition to her parents, Mrs. Agnew was also preceded in death by her first husband, Wilburn N. Johnson, Sr.; son, Wilburn N. Johnson, Jr.; brothers, Billy Oliver, C.L. Oliver, and Thomas Jack Oliver; sisters, Ella Wilson Oliver, and Iris Hill; and grandson, Justin Lindsey.

 

Survivors include her husband, Charles Agnew of Greenwood, SC; son, John A. Johnson of Ruby, SC; daughter-in-law, Jeanette Johnson of Ruby, SC; grandchildren, Steven Johnson of Mt. Croghan, SC, Jeremiah (Andrea) Johnson of Mt. Croghan, SC, Anna (Stacy) McManus; great grandchildren, Mya Johnson, Kathryn Johnson, Jake Johnson, Ava McManus, and Brantley McManus; brother, Michael Smith (Barbara Lisenby) Oliver of Chesterfield, SC; in addition to numerous nieces and nephews including Susan Oliver of Chesterfield, SC.
