Betty Ruth Edwards Melton

Pageland, SC

          Mrs. Betty Ruth Edwards Melton, age 77, entered into rest on Thursday, February 9, 2023. A private family committal service will be held at later date in the First Baptist Church Cemetery of Pageland.

          Mrs. Melton was born February 22, 1945 in Chesterfield County, SC a daughter of the late Jesse and Eva Hilton Edwards. She was a retired employee of Windsor Windows with over 15 years of service and a former employee with Chesterfield County Schools. Betty was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church and enjoyed her daily visits to the Council on Aging Nutrition Center. She enjoyed working wood crafts and was a proud “Maw-Maw” to her grandchildren.

          In addition to her parents, Mrs. Melton was also preceded in death by her husband, Dillon Melton; daughter, Layne Melton; son, Daryl Melton; 3 brothers, J.D. Edwards, James Edwards, and Jerry Edwards; sisters, Grace Gulledge, Myrtle Blackmon, and Lucille Brewer.

          Survivors include her son, Wayne (Cheryl) Melton of Jefferson, SC; grandchildren, Lucas (Megan) Melton, and Jesse Melton both of Jefferson, SC; and her beloved and faithful dog, “Jo-Jo.”

          The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff and administration of Cheraw Healthcare for their excellent care, love, and support.

          In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Chesterfield County Council on Aging, 206 Zoar Road, Chesterfield, SC 29709.
