Betty Jo "Rat" Ussery

Mrs. Betty Jo “Rat” Ussery, age 70, entered into rest on Friday, October 25, 2024. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 31, 2024 at 3:00 PM at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel by Brent Taylor with burial to follow in the Rocky Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Ussery was born on April 13, 1954 in McBee, South Carolina. A daughter of the late Culbert and Voncille Poston Jackson. "Rat", as she was affectionally called by her family, was known for being hospitable and caring deeply for others. She loved to cook and everyone enjoyed her homemade biscuits. She prided herself in being self-taught in many areas of medicine and first aid. Mrs. Betty Jo was known as the life of the party and never met a stranger.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ussery was preceded in death by her husbands, Henry T. Jackson, James Allen, Rufus Jackson Ussery; great grandchild, Emmit Burden; siblings, Jimmy Lee Jackson, Robert Andrew Jackson, Thomas Raymond, Susie Henson; infant sisters, Judy Jackson and Baby Jackson.

Survivors include her daughters, Betty Angel Melton and her husband, Casey, whom Mrs. Ussery called her favorite person of Mt. Croghan, SC and Joann Jackson of Ruby, SC; daughter of the heart, Pam Vining; grandchildren, Brandon Honeycutt, David (Erika) Miles, Nicole Pegues; great-grandchildren, Sophia Lundsford, Malarie Pegues, Bryson Horne, Jackson Miles, Makaia Ash, Liam Burden, Madilyn and Ella Cate Honeycutt; siblings, Lucille "Kute" (George) Watford, Bessie (Mike) Foster, Will "Buster" Jackson, Lucy (Wayne) Lisk; Brother of the Heart and Uncle, James "Doodie" Poston; in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.
