Beulah Mae Brigman Middleton, 100 a resident of the Taylorsville House in Taylorsville, formerly of Chesterfield S.C. passed away Monday August 27, 2007 at the Taylorsville House. She was born in Marlboro County, South Carolina July 10, 1907 daughter of the late King E. Brigman and Katherine Hicks Brigman.
Mrs. Middleton was a homemaker and member of Shiloh United Methodist Church in Chesterfield S.C., where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, and also a member and past president of the United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Cheraw Garden Club and was voted Woman of the Year in Chesterfield Co. S.C., and was a member of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Middleton was very active in the Shiloh Community of Chesterfield, and was always ready to travel on a mystery tour and eager to hear and tell a good joke.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband William Hildreth Middleton; two sons William "Bill Middleton and Dr. Lawrence P. "Larry Middleton; a son in law Horace G. Barlowe Jr.; a sister Martha Lee; brothers Alexander, Howard, Boyd and Prentice Brigman.
Survivors include a daughter Kathryn Middleton Barlowe of Taylorsville; three sisters Flora B. Wade of Wilmington, Francis B. Bogart of Myrtle Beach; and Katie B. Peary of Norfolk Va.; a brother Monroe Brigman of Charlotte; a daughter in law Ruth Middleton of Cheraw, S.C.; grandchildren Roslayn Kerins; Michael Barlowe, Barbara " Babs' Odom, William " Billy Middleton, Joe Middleton, Jon Middleton, Eliza Sutherland and Thomas Middleton; she is also survived by her special friend and caregiver Jean Moats of Taylorsville; six great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday August 29, 2007 from 6 until 7 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home in Taylorsville, with a service of worship and celebration to follow at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Adams Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. Lory Beth Huffman.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday August 31, 2007 at 4 p.m. at Shiloh United Methodist Church in Chesterfield S.C. The Revs. Preston Grimsley, Ed Davidson and Dewey Dean will officiate. Burial will follow in church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Shiloh United Methodist Church prior to the funeral service from 2:30 until 4 p.m.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church in Taylorsville, at P.O. Box 157 Taylorsville, N.C. 28681, or to Shiloh United Methodist Church in Chesterfield, S.C., 4059 HWY 102 Chesterfield, S.C. 29709.
