Brother Jesse L. Wallace, age 82, of McColl, SC, entered into his Heavenly home after a period of declining health on Sunday, August 14, 2016 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Chesterfield County, SC, on August 31, 1933, he was the son of the late R. Lee Wallace and Margaret Lee Roscoe Wallace. He attended the McColl Church of God and retired as a Mechanic with Highland Industries. He enjoyed listening to Southern Gospel Music, was an avid collector and was known for his ability for being a great story teller. He loved all children, especially his grandchildren. Brother Jesse had a heart of gold and would help anyone in need, and will be dearly missed by those who loved him. He was a graduate of Cheraw High School.
Brother Jesse is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 21 years, Sister Martha Britt Chavis Wallace of their home in McColl; by a son, Bryan Leon Wallace of Cheraw; by daughters, Yvonne Simpson and Kay Lloyd (Frankie Hancock) all of Cheraw; by brothers, James Wallace of Cheraw; by sisters, Ellen Tyner (Bunky), Gladys Grooms (L.P.) and Annie Mae Johnson (Henry) all of Cheraw; by 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; and by his canine friend, “Buddy” that he cherished sharing lots of outside time playing with and riding in his truck.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at Burroughs & Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in the Westfield Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Cheraw, SC. The family will receive friends from 1-3 P.M. Wednesday, at the funeral home just prior to the service. The Rev. Mike Williams will officiate.
Brother Jesse was preceded in death by his parents listed above; his first wife, Sarah Azaline Wallace; by two sons-in-law, Jim Simpson and James Wayne “Buddy” Lloyd; by a sister, Donnie Dillard; and by a sister-in-law, Brenda Wallace.
Memorials in Brother Jesse’s memory are suggested to: Regency Hospice, 960 Pamplico Highway, Suite-K, Florence, SC 29505.
The Wallace family would like to extend a very special “Thank You“to the staff of Regency Hospice and especially to Chaplain Leo and Mrs. Barbara for all the Christian love shown to Brother Jesse during his recent illness.
