HISTORY: Mrs. Rhynes was born March 31, 1922 in Chesterfield, SC a daughter of the late Lonnie Richard and Ella Sarah Lampley Graves. She was a graduate of Womble Hill School and was a retired seamstress with Chesterfield Manufacturing Company. Mrs. Rhynes was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church, where she served as former Sunday school teacher and was the first President of the United Methodist Women's Society. She was also a member of the Chesterfield Genealogy Society. Carolyn was an avid gardener and enjoyed canning. She loved her tree in her front yard, where she spent a lot of Sunday afternoons with her brothers, sisters, children, and grandchildren. Carolyn truly loved life, her family, and she called everyone her friend. She didn't just participate in life, she made lasting memories that each of us carry in our hearts. With 6 children, 17 Grandchildren, 42 Great, Grandchildren, and 23 Great, Great, Grandchildren, her cup runneth over. At Christmas, she still gave us all a present. Her love was the kind we all need to make us realize her heart was our home. Carolyn had a way of spending quality time with all of us. Feeding us did more than nourish our physical bodies, it fed our souls! In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husbands, Isom Hurst and Clyde R. Rhynes; a son, Jerry Hurst; two sons-in-law, Robert Mills and Lathaniel Wilkerson; three brothers, Harry Lee, Hazel, and Billy Graves; and five sisters, Ruth Graves, Alice Wallace, Ila Bell Teal, Newell Turnage, and Jolyn Ball.
