Mr. Charles “Charlie” Henry Gainey, age 91, entered into rest on Saturday, November 21, 2020. Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Monday, November 23, 2020 at St. John Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery by Brent Taylor. The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the cemetery.

Mr. Gainey was born October 24, 1929 in Chesterfield, SC a son of the late James “Jim” Jacob and Nora Aliene McLain Gainey. He was a retired employee of Canon Mills with 50 years of service. Charlie enjoyed attending Mt. Olive Baptist Church of Kannapolis, NC. He was a true family man who was always there for them.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Gainey was also preceded in death by his wife, Cora Lee Roscoe Gainey; 2 sons, David Gainey, and Donald Ray Gainey, Sr.; and 6 brothers, Redmond, Irby, J.E., W.P. “Coon,” M.J., and Bill Gainey.

Survivors include his grandchildren, Mark Howard of Kannapolis, NC, Lisa (Ivey) Cline of Davidson, NC, Donald Ray Gainey, Jr. of Kannapolis, NC, Tammy Gainey (Gary) Roberts of Lancaster, SC; 8 great grandchilden; and 13 great – great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Chesterfield County Foundation, P.O. Box 293, Chesterfield, SC 29709.
