Mr. Charles O’Berry Middleton, husband of the late Esther Squires Middleton, went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 8, 2019. He was born August 20, 1931 to the late Early Alson and Winnie Knight Middleton.
O’Berry was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, where he served as Director of Sunday School, Choir Director, Deacon, Building and Grounds Custodian, RA leader, and baseball coach. He was a member of the Macedonia/Angelus and Jefferson American Legions for over 60 years, President of the Middleton and Knight family reunions for over 50 years, and was a Veteran of the US Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. He worked at the Kendall Bethune Plant, for 40 plus years, umpired High School Baseball and Softball in the Catawba and Pee Dee associations for 38 years, served as the president of the Angelus Community Club for over 50 years, and also worked diligently with the Angelus Softball League. He loved farming and was known for his watermelons, cantaloupes, and corn. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren, attending many of their sporting events and activities until age 85.
O’Berry was the last surviving sibling of his family and was preceded in death by brothers, Hazel, Paul, Carl S. “Buddy”, William, Leroy, Donald, and Jerry Middleton; sisters, Nettie Mae Smith, and Opal Middleton; and sister-in-law, Georgia “Mickey” Heckle. He was also preceded in death by a son, Darryl.
He is survived by sons, Chuck (Tina) of West Union, SC, Joe, and Kevin (Lori) both of Jefferson and a daughter, Sheila Knight (Johnny) of Pageland. Grandchildren, Rob (Sara) of Greenville, SC, Britton of Charlotte, NC, Shane, Joleigh, Brianne, and Austin, all of Jefferson; sisters-in-law, Willie Faye Middleton and Doris Middleton, both of Jefferson; brother-in-law, John Ellison Squires (Gloria) of Camden and two step grandchildren.
The family expresses sincere appreciation to the staff of Karesh Long Term Care for their devoted and loving care.

Funeral Services will be 4:00 PM Sunday, February 10, 2019 at Macedonia Baptist Church by Rev. David Sanders and Rev. Tim Williams with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
The family will greet friends from 2:00 – 4:00 PM Sunday in the sanctuary of Macedonia Baptist Church and other times at the residence, 14880 Hwy. 151, Jefferson, SC, 29718.
