Due to COVID-19 regulations, our staff is committed to taking care of our guests and families that we serve. We also ask all guests and family members attending visitations and services to please continue social distancing and if desired to bring and wear a mask.

Charles was born March 19, 1948, in Chesterfield, South Carolina. A trustworthy, honest, and loyal man, he was raised by his grandmother, Ruby Vaughn, who prayerfully shaped his character, instilled an unmatched work ethic, and provided him with the tools to successfully navigate life.  He was a graduate of Chesterfield High School Class of 1966 and attained his Bachelor’s degree from Appalachian State University.  He worked in the textile industry as an operations manager and business owner until 1998.

He was EXTRA, and by that, he was extra loud and joked without reservation.  Charles loved, protected, and provided for his own and for countless others.  As a friend, a rock, and a confidant to many, his guidance was rooted in God’s word.  The doors of his home were always open for those who needed a good laugh, wisdom, and tough love, which was always followed by a hug.  He will long be remembered for his generosity.

Charles is survived by his loving wife of forty-four years, Marlene Rivers of Myrtle Beach, SC; his daughter, Jamie Dalton of Conway, SC and her children with Jason Dalton, Talon Dalton, Jackson Dalton, Jamieson Dalton, and Carson June Dalton; his son, Joshua Rivers and wife Carlita Rivers of Myrtle Beach, SC and their children, London Rivers, Julia Rivers, and Charlotte Rivers.

In addition to his parents, Charles was also preceded in death by his grandmother, Ruby Vaughn, and grandson, Judson Dalton.

In lieu of flowers or donations, we ask that you take a moment to hug your spouse, child, grandchild, and/or friend.  Time waits for no one.
