DECEASED: Mrs. Clara Ratliff Short, age 86, died Thursday, April 14, 2016.

FUNERAL SERVICE: 4:00 P.M. Sunday, April 17, 2016 at the Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel

INTERMENT: will follow in the Clanton Plains Baptist Church Cemetery

VISITATION: 3:00 4:00 P.M. Sunday, April 17, 2016 prior to the service at the Funeral Home.

HISTORY: Mrs. Short was born May 3, 1929 in Ruby, SC a daughter of the late Nathaniel and Lena McNair Ratliff. She was a retired employee of Burlington Industries with 37 years of service and a member of Clanton Plains Baptist Church. Mrs. Short enjoyed reading and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was affectionately known to all the children in the community as 'Granny.' In addition to her parents, Clara was also preceded in death by her husband, James H. Short; 6 brothers, Perry, Dewey, Duncan, Fred, John and Roy Ratliff; 3 sisters, Ruth Martin, Mary Campbell Brooks, and Thelma Knight; and by 1 great granddaughter, Brinlee Alexis Rushing.

4 Sons: Jimmy (Myrtle) Short and Mike (Vickie) Short both of Ruby, SC, Joel (Karen) Short of Chesterfield, SC, and Jack (Lisa) Short of Ruby, SC
3 Daughters: Dianne (Wayne) Craig of Mt. Croghan, SC, Barbara (Michael) Black of Ruby, SC and Jackie (Darrell) Burch of Cheraw, SC
14 Grandchildren and 14 Great Grandchildren
2 Sisters: Minnie 'Bill' Gulledge of Ruby, SC and Louise Allen of Indianapolis, IN
