FUNERAL SERVICE: 2:00 PM, Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel, Chesterfield, SC
INTERMENT: will follow in the Patrick Cemetery, Patrick, SC
VISITATION: 6:00 - 8:00 PM, Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home
HISTORY: Mr. Polson was born January 9, 1913 in Patrick, SC a son of the late Pressley and Annie Futrell Polson. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, having served his country well in Europe. After his military service, he owned and operated Polson's Barbershop in downtown Cheraw, where he was well known for his kindness and sense of humor. He served as deacon and Sunday school teacher for many years at North Cheraw Baptist Church, and later at Westside Baptist and Windsor Park Free Will Baptist. After his retirement he moved to Simpsonville in 2002 to live with his granddaughter, Lorie Jennings, there he was a member of Brookwood Baptist Church where he worked as a volunteer. In addition to his parents, Woodie was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Viola Isgett Polson, 2 daughters, Sara Rivers, and Jean Butler, and five brothers.

Daughter: Mary Elizabeth Lowder of Albemarle, NC
2 Sisters: Loretta Roscoe of Ruby, SC and Sarah Nezzie Davis of Cheraw, SC
Also: 9 Grandchildren, many Great Grandchildren, and many Nieces and Nephews
The family would like to thank the staff at Summit Place in Simpsonville, for all their loving care. Very special thanks to Nurse Robbie, Nurse Jane, Annette, and Dianna. Also a special thanks is extended to Sue Patton, Lynn Cusick, and Martha Thompson of Lutheran Hospice, and Jim DeWitt and the staff at The Springs in Simpsonville for their many years of service to the family.
