Claude Oliver

Mr. Claude F. Oliver, age 84, entered into rest on January 16, 2017. Funeral Services will be 4:00 PM Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Hopewell Baptist Church by Pastor Phil Wyatt, Rev. Ronnie Moore, and Rev. Dan Austin with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends from 3:00 – 4:00 PM Wednesday in the Hopewell Baptist Church fellowship hall.

Mr. Oliver was born November 8, 1932 in Chesterfield, SC a son of the late Duncan and Lula Grooms Oliver. He was a retired employee of Stanley Tools and an Army Veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Oliver was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church where he served as Sunday school teacher and was a member of the church choir. He was also a member of the Chesterfield Masonic Lodge #220. In his spare time, Claude enjoyed collecting arrowheads.

In addition to his parents, Claude was also preceded in death by his wife, Frances H. Oliver; son, Jeff Oliver; brother, Eugene Oliver; and sister, Hazel Rivers; brother-in-law, Thomas Rivers; and sister-in-law, Edna Rivers.

Survivors include his son, Joel (Joy) Oliver of Chesterfield, SC; daughter, Cindy Cassidy of Chesterfield, SC; grandchildren, Bobby (Tracy) Oliver of Chesterfield, SC, Brandi (Bill) Rivers, Jason (Jesse) Oliver, and Crystal (Anthony) Rollins all of Ruby, SC; also 9 great grandchildren.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Oliver's caretakers, Tasha Gainey, Angela Johnson, and Brandy Rollins for their love and care to Mr. Oliver and his family.
