Mr. Clinton “C.J.” Eddins, age 88, entered into rest on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at his home. Graveside services will be 4:30 PM Monday, November 28, 2016 at Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery by Jim “Butch” McLain and Phillip Caulder, Jr. The family will receive friends from 2:30 - 4:00 PM in the sanctuary of Chesterfield Baptist Church. Mr. Eddins may be viewed between the hours of 10:00 am – 4:00 pm on Monday at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.
Mr. Eddins was born August 21, 1928 in Chesterfield, SC to the late Clinton Jackson Eddins, Sr. and Florence Davis Eddins. He graduated from Chesterfield High School, and in the following years, married Harriet Ruth Mclain with whom shared 61 years of marriage. He was a hard worker and eventually served in the United States Army in the Signal Corps as a teletype operator. In addition, C.J. dedicated his service to the local agricultural office and was the founder of Chesterfield Realty, as an adjuster and broker for many years. He was also very proud of his work as a Mason, serving in the Chesterfield Masonic Lodge 220, and was also a member of the Chesterfield County School Advisory Board.
Futhermore, C.J. was a dedicated member of Chesterfield Baptist Church, where he served in a number of meaningful capacities. Outside of work, C.J. was an avid outdoorsman and spending time with his family was first and foremost throughout his life.
In addition to his parents, C.J. was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruth McLain Eddins; son, Jay Eddins; brothers, Wilford “Buck”, Leward, and Vincent Eddins; sisters, Nevelyn Freeman, Glennie Cromer and Vinnie Attaway.
Survivors include his daughter, Pamela (Wayne) Adams of Chesterfield, SC; grandchildren, Crista (Jackson) King, Jackson (Jennifer) Eddins, Bryan (Alicia) Eddins, and Evan Adams all of Chesterfield, SC; great grandchildren, Ella King, Kylee Eddins, Sydney Eddins, and Spencer King; sister, Sallie Short of Chesterfield, SC; also numerous nieces and nephews including Jim “Butch” (Vickie) McLain of Chesterfield, SC.
The family cordially requests memorials be made in Mr. Eddins memory to Chesterfield Baptist Church, 207 E. Main Street, Chesterfield, SC 29709, or to Hospice of Chesterfield County, P.O. Box 293, Chesterfield, SC 29709.
