Mr. David Ray “Jiggs” Clark, Jr., age 81, entered into rest on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. A Celebration of Life Service will be 3:00 PM Friday, February 3, 2017 at McBee Baptist Church by Dr. Richard Clark and Rev. John Helms with burial to follow in the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery, Jefferson, SC. The family will greet friends from 1:00 – 3:00 PM Friday, prior to the service in the church sanctuary of McBee Baptist Church.

Mr. Clark was born February 22, 1935 in Jefferson, SC a son of the late David Ray Clark and Annie Bell Cunningham Clark. He was a retired employee of Carolina Power and Light, H.B. Robinson Nuclear Plant and co-owner of The Company Store and Restaurant, where he was the official greeter. Mr. Clark was a faithful member of McBee Baptist Church where he served as a trustee, deacon, choir member, former Sunday school teacher, and director. He also served the local school board on the McBee Advisory Coucil for 20 years. Mr. Clark enjoyed gardening and was a true people person. A loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, he will be remembered as the “family caretaker” and devoting his retirement years to raising his grandchildren in “Pa-Pa’s Finishing School.”

In addition to his parents, Jiggs was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Ramsey and William “Billy” Clark; and sister-in-law, Marietta Helms.

Survivors include his devoted wife of 58 years, Lou Ellen Helms Clark of the home; son, Rodney M. (Kaye) Clark of Chesterfield, SC; 2 daughters, Shauna Clark (Tony) Newell of Jefferson, SC and Stephanie Clark (Chris) Tiller of McBee, SC; grandchildren, Rodney Clark, Jr. of Florence, SC, Sydney Newell (T.J.) Baker, Christian (Caitlin) Tiller both of McBee, SC, Vincent Newell of Florence, SC, and Chloe Clark Tiller of McBee, SC; great grandchild, Eliza Rae Baker of McBee, SC; brother, Mody A. (Jean) Clark of Jefferson, SC; sisters-in-law, Kathy Clark of Columbia, SC and Betty Clark of Atlanta, GA; brothers-in-law, Johnny (Von) Helms and Brice “Jackie” Helms; 2 aunts, Eloise Cunningham and Charlotte Middleton; nieces, Chanda Helms (Jacob) Crout, Tonya Clark Van Putten, and Kelly Clark; nephews, Rev. John (Susan) Helms, Johnny (Angela) Helms, Dr. Richard A. (Jackie) Clark, Mark W. Clark, Scott (Linda) Clark, Rev. Tony (Kim) Clark, Randy Clark, Whit (Megan) Clark, Will (Dianne) Clark; also numerous great nieces and great nephews whom he loved to come see him and play.
