Mr. David F. Gordon, age 82, entered into rest on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at his home. Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 31, 2018 from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Pastor David Roscoe and Rev. Don Rhyne with burial to follow in the Mt. Croghan Memorial Park. The family will greet friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Wednesday, prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Gordon was born April 13, 1935 in Ruby, SC a son of the late William Fate “W.F.” and Emma Taylor Gordon. He was a graduate of Monroe High School and a retired supervisor with the City of Monroe with 33 years of service. Mr. Gordon was a member of the NC Army National Guard and enjoyed hunting and working with his tractor. He served as Mayor of Mt. Croghan for 5 consecutive terms. A member of Mt. Croghan Baptist Church, David served as a former deacon and Sunday school teacher and was also a member of the Mt. Croghan Memorial Park committee.

In addition to his parents, David was also preceded in death by his son, David Franklin Gordon, Jr.; and 2 sisters, Frauline Gordon Deese and Rosa Lee Brooks.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 65 years, Lillie Mae Gordon of the home; brother of the heart, Billy (Kathy) Whitley of Peachland, NC; and grandchildren of the heart, Carson and Christine Rhyne.
