Mrs. Lewis was born March 19, 1940 in Chesterfield, SC a daughter of the late Archie T and Geneva Teal Copeland. She was a retired employee of Stanley Tools with over 28 years of service and a life-long member of Brock’s Mill Baptist Church. As a young teenage girl, “Boot” as she was named by her late father, helped to run the family store, Mr. T’s store and NEVER LEFT, making her home there.
Mrs. Lewis was a very talented cook who delighted in feeding all of her family. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren enjoyed eating her famous “Granny Boot” spoon fudge. She was also well known for her delicious homemade chocolate cakes and proud of the fact that her cakes raised the most money at the annual BWZ Men’s Club cake auction.
A lady with strong Christian values, Mrs. Lewis instilled this character and respect in her children and grandchildren. Everyone who walked through her door was treated as family and would often be asked the infamous question, “Did you go to church today?” Boot also enjoyed following football, and was an avid Clemson Tigers fan.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by her parents; infant brother, Dean Copeland; brother, Willis Copeland; sisters, Doris Earp, and Carol Hatcher; and sister of the heart, Dorothy “Dot” Lewis.
She was known as the “Queen of her family” and was proudly “spoiled rotten” by her soulmate of 64 years, Bobby R. Lewis. She is also survived by her children, Kenny (Carmen) Lewis of Patrick, SC, Lisa (Herbie) Beam of Cheraw, SC; grandchildren, Brittany (Graham) Harpe of Cheraw, SC, Grayson Mills (Richard McCord) of Pageland, SC, Houston (Nicole) Taylor of Aiken, SC, Courtney (Brian) Adams of Greenwood, SC, Madison (Zack) Sellers of Patrick, SC, and Kensley Lewis (Dylan Owen) of Cheraw, SC. She is also survived by her great – grandchildren, Walker, Brylie, Weston, Saylor, Hadley Jane, Whit, Rhett, Baylor, Calhoun, Grace, and Poppy.
The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers who provided unwavering support over the years and acknowledges the exceptional care received from the staff and administration of Spring Hill Assisted Living in Pageland.
