Desseree Cranford Mclain

Patrick, SC

Mrs. Desseree Cranford Mclain, age 93, entered into rest on Tuesday, July 14, 2020. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, July 16, 2020 from the chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Rev. Grover Johnson with burial to follow at Patrick Town Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Mclain was born December 27, 1926 in Patrick, SC a daughter of the late Edward and Carrie Williams Cranford. She was a graduate of Chesterfield High School and a lifelong member of Patrick Baptist Church. Desseree served her church as a Sunday school teacher, choir member, a member of the WMU, and was always faithful to her church. Mrs. Mclain was very active in the community and was a Town Council member, charter member of the Board of Disabilities and Special Needs, member of the Chesterfield Council on Aging, Patrick Quilting Club, and the Patrick Beautification Committee. She loved helping others and was a longtime volunteer with Hospice of Chesterfield County. She will be remembered by her family as being so very supportive of them all.

In addition to her parents, Desseree was also preceded in death by her husband, Leander “Lee” Mclain; sisters, Dorothy Floyd, Eloise Ross, Edith Davis, and Margaret Barthlow; brothers, David and Edward Cranford.

Survivors include her children, Jerry Edward (Betty) Mclain of Florence, SC and Janice M. (Steve) Chewning of Cheraw, SC; grandchildren, Summer (Toby) Rhyne of Cheraw, Cody (Jessica) Chewing of Hampstead, NC, and Hayli Mclain of Florence, SC; great-grandchildren, Leighton and Tucker Mclain Rhyne, Olivia Grace and Anna Kate Chewing; brother, Henry M. Cranford of Hartsville, SC; sister, Joyce (Robert) Woodworth of Florence, SC; sister-in-law, Betty Cranford of Hartsville, SC; in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Mcleod Hospice of Cheraw for the loving care shown to Mrs. Mclain and their family.
