Mr. Donald ‘Richard’ Gaskins, Jr., age 52, entered into rest on Friday, January 14, 2022 at his home with his parents by his side. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, January 17, 2022 from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Pastor Randy Bishop and Pastor Allen Usher with the eulogy being delivered by John Long. The family will greet friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Monday, prior to the service at the funeral home. A private committal in the Chesterfield Cemetery will be held at a later date.

For those who are unable to attend, the service will be live-streamed on the Miller Rivers Caulder Funeral Home Facebook page.

Due to COVID-19 regulations, our staff is committed to taking care of our guests and families that we serve. We also ask all guests and family members attending visitations and services to please continue social distancing and if desired to bring and wear a mask.

Mr. Gaskins was born February 3, 1969 in Columbia, SC a son of Donald Richard Gaskins, Sr. and Geraldine Sheeler Gaskins. He was a 1987 graduate of Chesterfield High School and attained his associate’s degree from Chesterfield – Marlboro Tech. Richard was a former switchboard operator at Chesterfield General Hospital and a former employee of Western Auto – Chesterfield. He was currently employed with the Chesterfield County School District as a substitute teacher. He was a member of Chesterfield Baptist Church.

A man who enjoyed spending time with his friends, Richard’s hobbies included drag racing, hunting, and playing poker. He was the co-owner of R&R racing, and also enjoyed grilling-out each Sunday night at the R&R grill.

Survivors include his daughter, Charli Grayce (Nicholas Ponce) Gaskins of Pageland, SC; grandson, Luca Angel Ponce; parents, Donnie and Geraldine Gaskins; beloved grandmother of the young age of 97, Johnnie K. Long; sister, Kelly Driggers all of Chesterfield, SC; niece, Christen Driggers of Columbia, SC; and his beloved pets, “Champ,” “Lily,” and “Noodle.”
