Doris Andrews Cothran passed away at the age of 76 on November 21, 2023, peacefully at her Inman home surrounded by her family.
Doris was the daughter of the late Francis Lewis and the late Mitchell Andrews and wife of Buddy Cothran.
Doris was a follower of Jesus and a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Her labor of love was caring for her husband and children. Doris was the ever-present cheerleader and worker bee in all of her children’s activities. She worked as a substitute teacher, retail store manager, and as a bookkeeper for the trucking business she owned and ran with her husband. While Doris took the most pride in her family, becoming a CDL licensed truck driver comes in a close second. She treasured the trips taken with her husband throughout the United States Doris’s greatest joy and a constant cause of her quick smiles came from hearing the people she loved laughing and talking together. She loved flowers and working in her yard. She enjoyed camping trips with family and friends and being around the people she loved as much as possible.
Doris is survived and loved by her husband of 58 years, Buddy Cothran; her step-father Howard (Rass) Lewis, daughter Michelle Cothran Coyle, son Todd Cothran (Renee), son Travis Cothran, and daughter Monica Greene; grandchildren Leanna Coyle-Carr (Aaron), Nathan Coyle (Calyn), Adam Coyle (Jessica), David Cothran (Rachel), Jonathan Cothran (Jess), Maggie and Mollie Cothran, Spencer Cothran, Beth Lyda, and Taylor Harrison (Wade); Great-grandchildren Watson and Mason Coyle, Henlee Coyle-Carr, Asher Coyle, Chase Stepp, Zyla Todd, and Scottlyn Ray. She was predeceased by her mother Francis Andrews Lewis, her father Mitchell Andrews, a sister Nancy Love, and a brother Bill Andrews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Friday, November 24, 2023 at Seawright Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 25 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church at 842 Mt. Zion Rd. in Spartanburg and conducted by Rev. Monty King. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church cemetery.
The family sincerely appreciates Ariel and Rena and all of the staff of Spartanburg Regional Hospice who not only cared for Doris but enabled her to have an active, engaged and high-quality of life until the end.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice, Cancer Association of Spartanburg & Cherokee Counties or Spartanburg Humane Society
