Doris McManus Deese

Mrs. Doris McManus Deese, age 82, entered into rest on Sunday, October 4, 2020. Graveside services will be 3:00 PM Thursday, October 8, 2020 at Union Hill Baptist Church Cemetery by Pastor Robin Hewitt.

The family will greet friends during a time of visitation and viewing on the front porch of Union Hill Baptist Church from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM Thursday. Due to the continued COVID-19 restrictions, social distancing is required at all times. The family would like for all attending the service to please wear a face covering.

Mrs. Deese was born November 7, 1937 in Monroe, NC a daughter of the late Jesse and Azilee Watts McManus. She was an employee of Dynamic Brands and a faithful member of Union Hill Baptist Church. Doris loved her Lord, her church, and her family.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Deese was also preceded in death by her husband, Bevin Bruce “Bookie” Deese; brothers, Ray McManus, J. Vonder McManus, and Robert McManus; and sisters, Leola West, and Mert Tucker.

Survivors include her son, Bruce “Bookie Jr.” Deese of Monroe, NC; daughter, Vickie (Mike) Little of Marshville, NC; 4 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Jim McManus of Wadesboro, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
