Dorothy Hudson McCarty

Mrs. Dorothy Hudson McCarty, age 82, entered into rest on Friday, January 3, 2020. Funeral Services will be 3:00 PM Wednesday, January 8, 2019 at Oakland Baptist Church by Dr. Philip Hunter and Rev. Beau Boyle with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.

Mrs. McCarty was born July 10, 1937 in Vidette, GA a daughter of the late R.L. and Lois Thompson Hudson. She was a former employee of Kendall - Bethune and worked along side her husband as an insurance agent with Combined Insurance. Dorothy was a faithful member of Oakland Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with her church family. She also enjoyed making crafts, crocheting, and fishing.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. McCarty was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Billy G. McCarty; granddaughter, Paulette Frooze; sister, Barbara Hudson Hadden; and brother, Ray Hudson.

Survivors include her children, Mark (Dianne) McCarty of Hartsville, SC, Brian (Amy S. Blackwell) McCarty of McBee, SC, Billy (Becky) McCarty of Cayce, SC, and Bruce McCarty of Hartsville, SC; grandchildren, Beth McCarty, Brittany McCarty, James McCarty, Eric Dempsey, and Anna Lutz; 16 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family is grateful for the love and care shown to Mrs. McCarty by the staff of McLeod Hospice House and suggests that memorials be made to McLeod Hospice House, P. O. Box 100551, Florence, SC 29502.
