FUNERAL SERVICE: 3:00 PM, Friday, September 11, 2009 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel

INTERMENT: will follow in the Chesterfield Cemetery

VISITATION: 6:00 - 8:00 PM, Thursday, September 10, 2009 at the funeral home and at other times at 151 Chapman Street, Chesterfield, SC

HISTORY: Mr. Rivers was born September 15, 1912 in Chesterfield, SC a son of the late Robert Edgar and Minnie Lee Sanders Rivers. He was a graduate of Chesterfield High School, and was a retired clerk and rural letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service. Mr. Rivers was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. He was an artist and was well known for his paintings of Family Coat of Arms. Edgar was an avid historian and outdoorsman and enjoyed bird hunting, fishing, and golfing. He was an amateur radio operator and enjoyed talking with folks all over the world. Mr. Rivers was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and attended Hopewell Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Edgar was preceded in death by his first wife, Alene McLaurin Rivers, and by a brother Robert Wendell Rivers.
