Mrs. Edith Dalrymple Atkinson, age 93, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, October 25, 2020. The family will hold a private graveside service on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 by Pastor Randy Bishop. Graveside services will be streamed live on Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Facebook page starting at 2 O’clock PM.

Mrs. Atkinson was born January 30, 1927 in Mt. Croghan, SC a daughter of the late Jennings Hobson and Alma Deas Dalrymple. She was a graduate of Coker College and first grade teacher in Chesterfield County Schools for over 30 years. Edith was a dedicated member of Mt. Croghan Baptist Church, where she served as the pianist/organist for over six decades. She was also an avid reader.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Atkinson was also preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Charles Ray Atkinson; brother, Jennings Harris Clovis Dalrymple; and sister, Georgia D. “Dot” Thurman.

Survivors include her sons; Tommy (Libby) Atkinson of Chesterfield, SC and Barry (Martha Kay) Atkinson of Laurens, SC; daughter, Karen (Ralph) Watson of Chesterfield, SC; grandchildren, Kevin (Gena) Atkinson of Lexington, SC, Jason ( Britton) Atkinson of Myrtle Beach, SC, Dan (Amanda) Atkinson of Spartanburg, SC, Mandy (Gordon) Stallard of Simpsonville, SC, Candice (Jared) Godfrey of Mt. Croghan, SC, Derek (Susie) Watson of Chesterfield; 11 great-grandchildren, Kaitlin, Allison, Ella, Wilson, Nora, Charlie, Bennett, Bo, Grace, Isabella, and Millie; and a sister, Betty Lou (Bobby) Griffith of Chesterfield, SC.
