Mrs. Edith Phillips Martin, age 86, entered into rest on Thursday, September 10, 2020. Graveside services will be 4:00 PM Sunday, September 13, 2020 at Oakland Baptist Church Cemetery by Rev. Jeff Gardner.
Due to the continued COVID-19 restrictions, we ask that you practice social distancing at all times. The family would like for all attending the service to please wear a face covering.
Friends may stop by Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home on Sunday between the hours of 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM to pay their respects.
Mrs. Martin was born March 1, 1934 in McFarlan, NC a daughter of the late Arthur Battle and Sarah Frances Jones Phillips. She was a retired employee of Chesterfield Manufacturing and a faithful member of Oakland Baptist Church. Edith’s passion was her family. She was very active in her children’s life and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and family.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Martin was also preceded in death by her husband, Fay Martin; brothers, Battle, John, Mack, and Gordon Phillips; sisters, Mary P. Pate, Lucille Phillips, Clemmie P. White, and Sarah P. Boan; and great grandchild, Brynn Harper Martin.
Survivors include her sons, Philip (Carol) Martin of Taylors, SC, and Danny Martin of Ruby, SC; grandchildren, Daniel Gantt Martin (Brooke), Courtney Martin Driver (Andrew), and Kelsey Ann Martin; great grandchildren, Lucas Driver, Dillon Driver, and Jenna Kate Martin; sister, Dorothy Phillips Zearfoss of Chesterfield, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude to Mrs. Martin’s caregivers through the years, Betty Atkinson, Dot Burr, Linny Gardner, Jan Benton, Jenny McCabe and the exceptional staff of Shepherd’s Care of Greenville, SC for their love, care, and support to Mrs. Edith and the family.
