Mrs. Effie Lou Rivers Jerome, 74 of Marshville died October 1, 2016 at Autumn Care in Marshville. Born September 9, 1942 in Chesterfield County, SC she was a daughter of the late Mayo Moore Rivers and Fannie Brooks Rivers. For the past 16 years, she was an avid fund raiser with Children’s Miracle Network. Mrs. Effie was a great cook and loved to share that love for cooking with everyone she knew.

A Visitation and Celebration of Mrs. Effie’s life will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home, 318 E. Main Street, Chesterfield, SC.

Funeral services will be 11AM Wednesday, October 5, 2016 from the Union Grove Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends from 10-11 am on Wednesday in the church’s fellowship building.

Mrs. Jerome is survived by her husband Jerry of the home; daughters, Denise Douglass and her husband Jerry of Chesterfield, Aimee Chitwood of Georgia; step daughter, Jerree Earl and her husband Cliff of Naples, Florida; step son, Jeff Miles of Georgia; brother, Charles Rivers and his wife Madge of Chesterfield; sister, Hazel Davis of Chesterfield, SC; nieces, Patti Chavis and her husband Zeke and Leigh Ann Parker both of Chesterfield, SC, and Erica Kilroy of Monroe, NC; nephews, Joshua Parker of Chesterfield, SC, David Rivers and wife Pam, and Davey Rivers both of Waxhaw, NC; 7 grandchildren - Brandon and Elizabeth Douglass, Clifford, Stephanie and Stacy Earl, and Jennifer and Zacc Miles 6 great grandchildren, William Douglass, Aimee, Jonathan, Aubrey and Logan Earl, and Shelby Radford; a beloved aunt, Sadie Brooks Traskiewics of Rockwell.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to the Newberry Middle School Band, 125 O’Neal Street, Newberry, SC 29108
