Eldon Wannamaker

Eldon Shields Wannamaker, 93, left us to join family, friends, and our Heavenly Father on July 1, 2013. He was born July 23, 1919, in Orangeburg County to Eldon Shields Wannamaker, Sr., and Annie Mae Jackson Wannamaker. He was married for 68 years to a beautiful lady, Ruth Sellers Wannamaker, who went to await him in Heaven on March 22, 2008. Eldon proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy during World War II form 1944 until 1946, part of that time having been spent in the Pacific arena on the USS Arkansas. He lived most of his life in Hartsville, and was a longtime member of West Hartsville Baptist Church. For the past several years he was a resident of the Lowman Home in White Rock, SC. A machinist by trade, he retired from Sonoco Products Company in Hartsville after 33 years of service. He was an exceptionally talented craftsman, quite the "˜Jack of all trades', and left a legacy of beautiful clocks that he created.
