Mrs. Elizabeth “Lib” Morton Watson, age 77, entered into rest on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 with her family by her side. Funeral services will be 4:00 PM Friday, September 16, 2022 from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by the Reverends Michael Phares and Jerry Watson with the eulogy being delivered by Savanna Page. The burial will follow in the Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 2:30 – 4:00 PM Friday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Watson was born May 11, 1945 in Chesterfield, SC a daughter of the late Bebe Jerome and Mary Jane Taylor Morton. An avid gardener, Lib never saw a plant or flower she didn’t have to take home. She was known for her green thumb, and could grow anything. She enjoyed many other hobbies such as crocheting, sewing, and collecting thimbles. Fishing is a Morton family tradition and Lib was always ready to drown a worm or cricket. Many memories were made on family trips to Santee, catching catfish and her making someone else clean them, and then having a grand fish fry.
Lib’s personality and smile was contagious and could light up the darkest room. Going to the flea markets and bargain hunting with Allen made her happy, but nothing topped spending time with family and loving on all the grandchildren and great grandchildren that came along. A faithful and supportive member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Lib was a devoted Christian lady that will truly be missed.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Watson was also preceded in death by her first husband, Ray K. Watson, Sr.; sister, Myrtle Mills; and brother, Jimmy Morton.
