DECEASED: Mr. Ernest Hugh Pusser, age 85, died peacefully at his home the afternoon of Saturday, March 7, 2009
FUNERAL SERVICE: 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 14, 2009 at St. Paul United Methodist Church
INTERMENT: will follow in the Friendship United Methodist Church Cemetery with Military Honors.
VISITATION: 6:00 - 8:00 PM, Friday, March 13, 2009 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.
HISTORY: Mr. Pusser was born April 25, 1923 in Chesterfield, SC, a son of the late John Welborn Pusser and Tulia Griggs Pusser. He was a graduate of Chesterfield High School and was retired owner and manager of Pusser's Mens Shop. Mr. Pusser's interests and involvements were many. He was a life long member of St. Paul United Methodist Church where he served in many positions. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII. Mr. Pusser served on the Chesterfield Town Council for many years and also served as Mayor Pro Tem.
He was a member of Chesterfield Civitan Club, where he held several offices. Hugh was very instrumental in planning and organizing the Annual Chesterfield County Horse Show for several years. Mr. Pusser was a distinguished member of the National Rifle Association.
Besides being a merchant and horseman, Hugh was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, especially deer hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends.
Hugh was affectionately known as "Geronimo" by his deer hunting buddies.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Pusser was preceded in death by his sister, Myrle Pusser Clarke; three brothers, Jack Pusser, Robert Purser, and Lloyd Purser; and by his father-in-law, Louis Davis Rivers, Sr.

1 Grandson: John Morrison Pusser of Lugoff, SC
Mother-in-law: Nina Rivers (Joe) Valentino of Chesterfield, SC
5 Sisters-in-law: Virginia Pusser of Florence, SC, Lois Purser of Tifton, GA, Alma Purser of Greensboro, NC, Dianne Williams of Chesterfield, SC, and Amanda Rivers (Kevin) Lucey of Mooresville, NC
3 Brothers-in-law: Col. George Clarke of Dana Point, CA, Louis Davis (Donna) Rivers, Jr. of Chesterfield, SC, and Jerry F. (Laura) Rivers of Florence, SC
