HISTORY: Mr. Smothers was born July 2, 1927 in Jefferson, SC a son of the late Thomas Boldon and Clara Ellen Terry Smothers. He was a retired Tech Sergeant with the U.S. Air Force with 23 years of service, having served during WWII and the Korean War. Mr. Smothers was a former North Star Leather Co. employee and a restaurant manager. He also was caregiver for his mother and brother. In addition to his parents, Ernest was also preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Smothers; a daughter, Linda Carolyn Smothers; his brothers, Thomas Orra Smothers and Robert Alton Smothers; and by his sister, Arie Lucille Smothers.

5 Daughters: Vikki (Joe) Cullen of Chattanooga, TN, Tricia (Norbert) Freitag of Wright City, MO, Michelle (Barry) Broadhurst of Raleigh, NC, Diann Smothers of Boston, MA, and Melody Sabin of Spartanburg, SC
Also 17 Grandchildren and 15 Great Grandchildren
