Mr. Ernest Lacy Pridgen, age 86, entered into rest on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at his home with his family by his bedside. Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Friday, February 15, 2019 from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Pastor Jason Pope and Pastor Doug Anderson with burial to follow in the Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens with military honors. The family will greet friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Friday prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Pridgen was born April 6, 1932 in Green Sea, SC a son of the late James and Katie Pridgen. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War and a founding member of the VFW of Cheraw # 10731. Mr. Pridgen was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church and was a retired truck driver. A true family man, Lacy enjoyed working in his yard, family trips to the beach, and “tinkering” on anything around the house.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Pridgen was also preceded in death by a son, Greg Pridgen; a daughter, Alice Marsh; brothers, Robert and Ralph Pridgen; sisters, Clara Hardee, Vila Williams, Lena Bowen, Lillian Smith, Estilene Strickland, and Alene Sharp.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 47 years, Mae Belle Pridgen of the home; children, William H. “Billy” (Denise) English of Cheraw, SC, Shelton “Rock” (Sally) English of Ft. Mill, SC, Ernie (Rene) Pridgen, Sandra McCormick, James Daniel “Danny” Pridgen, and Johnny (Peggy) Pridgen all of Lexington/Aiken, SC; 20 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.
