Ernest R. Eskridge

Mr. Ernest Randolph Eskridge, age 94, entered into rest on Friday, November 24, 2017. A Celebration of Life Service will be 2:00 PM Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Faith Presbyterian Church by Pastor Joe Arnold. The family will greet friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.

Mr. Eskridge was born May 8, 1923 in Cheraw, SC a son of the late John Washington and Cora Clodfelter Eskridge. Following his graduation from Cheraw High School, Ernest moved to Washington, DC where he worked for the F.B.I. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served our country during World War II. Mr. Eskridge was a charter member of Faith Presbyterian Church and a sixty-year member of the American Legion Post 23 in Cheraw, SC. He was known as a true “handyman” who enjoyed tinkering and working on anything.

In addition to his parents, Ernest was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 70 years, Emma Rae Hammond Eskridge; and 7 brothers and 3 sisters.

Survivors include his children, Nancy Eskridge Scoggins of Columbia, SC and Randy (Nancy) Eskridge of Mauldin, SC; grandchildren, Dixon (Lauren) Scoggins of Simpsonville, SC, and Matthew (Andrea) Eskridge of Baltimore, MD; great-grandchildren, Jack Elliott Eskridge and Ellery Scoggins; also numerous nieces and nephews.
