HISTORY: Miss Melton was born October 13, 1937 in Chesterfield, SC a daughter of the late Claude Melton and Tonci Lee Chavis Wilkerson. She was a retired employee of Chesterfield Manufacturing Company. Evelyn was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church where she served as Preschool Sunday School teacher for many years. She enjoyed the outdoors, mowing grass, growing flowers and vegetables, and spending time with her family and friends. In addition to her parents, Evelyn was also preceded in death by her brother, Vernon and E.B. Melton; three sisters, Dorothy Belle Melton, Bobbie Jean Melton, and Virginia Melton Oliver.
