Mr. Farris M. “Mickey” Short, age 63, entered into rest on Sunday, June 18, 2017. Funeral Services will be 3:00 PM Friday, June 23, 2017 from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Rev. Randy Gulledge and Dr. Steve West with burial to follow in the Thompson Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 2:00 – 3:00 PM Friday, prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Short was born February 28, 1954 in Ruby, SC a son of Margaret Ann Gulledge Deese and the late Farris Short. He was a former truck driver with Carpenter Logging and a member of Clanton Plains Baptist Church. Mickey enjoyed coon hunting and spending time with his friends. He always kept everyone around him laughing. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family, especially his children.

In addition to his father, Mickey was also preceded in death by his son, Michael Dewayne Short; sister, Peggy Steele Hatcher; and brother, Jerry Lewis Sanders.

Survivors include his children, Farrah Michelle Short of Ruby, SC and her mother, Rose Haynes of Kannapolis, NC; Heather Nicole Short and Haley Danielle Short, and their mother, Melanie Short all of Ruby, SC; grandchildren, Devin Brack Griffin of Rock Hill, SC, Daniel Scott Wehunt of Hawkinsville, GA, Alyesha Nicole Short of Kannapolis, NC, Dylan Blake Short, Trey Frank Bourn, Hadley Grace Short, Lillian Elizabeth Bourn, Harley Faith Short, and Nathan Alexander Bourn all of Ruby, SC; mother, Margaret Ann Deese of Robbinsville, NC; siblings, Bart Short of Ruby, SC, Sue (Jeff) Zearfoss of Chesterfield, SC, Jerry Short of Ruby, SC, Mona “Lynn” Short of Cheraw, SC, and Romona S. Posey of Robbinsville, SC; special friend, Darlene Davis of Ruby, SC; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved pets, “Champ,” "Bruiser" and “Ron – Ron”.

The family requests memorials be made to Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home, 318 E. Main Street, Chesterfield, SC 29709 to help the family with funeral expenses.
