It is with deep sorrow that Mrs. Dianne Oliver Boatwright and her family announce the death of her beloved husband, Mr. Floyd Hunley Boatwright, 81.

Mr. Boatwright entered into rest on Monday, February 24, 2025, at the Veterans Village Nursing Facility of Florence, SC. The Directors of Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home & Crematory are caring for the family.

A funeral service to honor his life will be held at 3 o'clock on Thursday, February 27, 2025, in The Chapel, and The Rev. Dr. Ladell Humphries will officiate. A private family burial will be held in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The United States Army will render Military Honors. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in The Chapel.

Mr. Boatwright was born on Wednesday, August 18, 1943, in Chesterfield County, SC. He is the son of the late Robert L. Boatwright and the late Christine Lee Boatwright. Floyd retired from Sonoco Products Company with 34 years of service, where he was known for his work ethic and loyalty. He was an active member of North Hartsville Baptist Church.

Beyond his professional life, he was a lifelong farmer who specialized in growing and the hybridization of Daylilys. He dedicated many hours to cultivating and refining many colors. He was a kind gentleman who cherished his family and friends, and his legacy will live on through those relationships, as well as the numerous charitable organizations he supported.

He is survived by his loving wife, Dianne Oliver Boatwright of Hartsville, SC; son, Phillip (Lori) Boatwright of Hilton Head, SC; and his granddaughter, Mari Pennington Bpatwright of Jersey City, NJ, Logan Blair of Stamford, CT; brother, Robert Wayne (Francis) Boatwright of Cheraw, SC; sisters, Sylvia (Elmer) Wallace of Chesterfield, SC, Wanda (Wilson) Lewis of Chesterfield, SC.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Steven Boatwright, and his brother, Thomas Boatwright.
