Mr. Floyd G. Steen, age 88, entered into rest on Sunday, May 24, 2020 at his home. Graveside services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery by Brent Taylor with military honors to follow. Friends may stop by Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home on Wednesday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM to pay their respects.
Mr. Steen was born November 22, 1931 in Jefferson, SC a son of the late William “Matt” and Millie Demby Steen. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, where he achieved the rank of Sergeant. Mr. Steen was a member of the Church of God, New World Ministries. A life-long farmer, Floyd was also a former employee of Cannon Mills and Chesterfield Yarn Mill. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed gardening and “tinkering” on his tractor. His family fondly referred to him as a “Jack of all Trade” with a sense of humor that could brighten your day.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Steen was also preceded in death by his sons, Larry and Junior Steen; brothers, Sam, Roy, Olin, and John Steen; and son-in-law, Buster Hunsucker.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Eula J. Steen of the home; children, Judy Linker of Mt. Pleasant, NC, Glenda Hunsucker of Rockwell, NC, Violet (James) Hall of Easley, SC, Trenia (Dennis) Freeman of Ruby, SC, and Mike (Elizabeth) Watts of Monroe, NC; 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family is grateful to the staff of Regency SouthernCare Hospice of Chesterfield for their excellent care and support shown to Mr. Steen and his family and suggests memorials be made to Regency SouthernCare Hospice, 205 E. Main Street, Chesterfield, SC 29709.
