Mr. Frank Charles McGregor of Ruby, SC, died Monday, September 21, 2009 while visiting family in Charleston, SC. Born March 18, 1928 in Wadesboro, NC, to the late Julius Sellers McGregor and Mabel Sumerel McGregor, Frank was 82 years old. He graduated from Presbyterian College where he majored in Business Administration and minored in Political Science. After attending PC, Frank managed the family business for a number of years and later worked at J. P. Stevens Co. A lifetime member of Ruby Presbyterian Church, he served as elder, Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School teacher, and choir member. Additionally, he served on area presbytery committees. Frank was also a director on the Sandhill Telephone Cooperative Board for 50 years. Post retirement Frank was an active member of the Chesterfield Historical Society and helped with various writings including Historic Chesterfield County, South Carolina: 1785-2000, A Pictorial History of Its Towns and Communities. He also helped with cataloging area cemeteries. Frank enjoyed music of all kinds and loved to share his singing talents with others. Like his wife, Betty, Frank had a passion for serving others and strove to do at least one good deed each day. In addition to his parents Frank was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Betty J. McGregor, as well as a sister, Margaret M. King, and a brother, Julius S. McGregor.
Frank is survived by five daughters: Angelia Lown (Doug) of Newberry, South Carolina, Caroline Macaulay (Hugh) of Conifer, Colorado, Deb McGregor of Beaver Dam, Virginia, Fran and Beth McGregor, both of Charleston, South Carolina, nine grandchildren: Hugh Macaulay (Kim) of Walhalla, South Carolina, Dendy Macaulay of Brooklyn, New York, Heather Geffert (AJ) of Charleston, South Carolina, Kelly Lown of Wilmington, North Carolina, Anikia Smith (DeJour) of Aurora, Colorado, Roderick and Lindsay Macaulay of Confier, Colorado, and Mekia Headen and Lashonda McGregor of Clinton, South Carolina, two great granddaughters: Wynter Smith of Aurora, Colorado, and Ansley Geffert of Charleston, South Carolina.
Memorial Services will be 12:00 P.M. Saturday, September 26, 2009 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow at a later date.
Visitation will be 11:00A.M. - 12:00 P.M. prior to the service at the Funeral Home.
