Grace Oliver Davis Dees

Ruby, SC

Mrs. Grace Oliver Davis Dees, age 94, entered into rest on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at her home. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, February 15, 2020 from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Rev. Charlie Short with burial to follow in the White Oak Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Saturday, prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Dees was born October 13, 1925 in Ruby, SC a daughter of the late Duncan Wilford and Lonie Jordan Oliver. She was a retired employee of Ruby Hosiery Mill and a long-time columnist of the Chesterfield Advertiser writing the “White Oak News.” Mrs. Dees was a faithful member of White Oak Presbyterian Church and a member of the Woodmen of the World Lodge # 516. Grace enjoyed gardening, reading, and taking care of her numerous cats and dog.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dees was also preceded in death by her husbands, James Davis and Theodore Dees; sons, Charles Davis and Ricky Dean Davis; daughter, Linda Penman; granddaughter, Holley Davis; and great grandson, Johnathan Gabriel; brothers, Gilbert, Sam, Fred, and Maxie Lee Oliver; sisters, Marie Oliver, Ruth Jones, Lucy Wilkerson, and Sarah Eddins.

Survivors include her son, Jimmy (Sadie) Davis of Cheraw, SC; daughter, Alta Kay Newberger of Ruby, SC; daughter-in-law, Loretta Davis of Cheraw, SC; sister-in-law, Janie Parks; brother-in-law, E.B. Davis; and multiple generations of grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank “their extended family” of Regency SouthernCare Hospice of Chesterfield for the love and care shown to Mrs. Grace and her family.
