Hannah Rhyne Gaddy Johnston

          It is with great sadness, yet celebration that the family of Mrs. Hannah Rhyne Gaddy Johnston of Pageland, SC announces her death on Tuesday, October 24, 2023. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday, October 27, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Pageland with the Reverend Dr. Joel Dale officiating. The burial will follow in the Anson Memorial Park of Wadesboro, NC. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM Friday, prior to the service in the fellowship hall of the church.

Mrs. Johnston was born on February 16, 1933 in Ansonville, NC, a daughter of the late Spencer and Olivia Gaddy Rhyne. She dedicated over 23 years of her life to working at Service America before retiring. A devout Christian, she found solace in reading the word of God. She grew up attending Westfield Creek Baptist Church in Cheraw and later became a member of First Baptist Church in Pageland. Mrs. Johnston was also an active member of the Red Hat Society. In her leisure time, she enjoyed reading, shopping, thrift store hunts at Goodwill, camping trips with her family, and traveling.

Preceding Mrs. Johnston in death were her first husband, Gerald Wayne Gaddy, and her son Randall Wayne "Randy" Gaddy.

She is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Robert Story Johnston. Her cherished children include Bronwenn G. (Keith) Timmons of Pageland, SC and Chris (Wendy) Gaddy of Morven NC. Mrs. Johnston also leaves behind four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Her brother Richard G. (Joan) Rhyne resides in Tampa Bay, FL.

Additionally, Mrs. Johnston had honorary daughters Janet Bennett and Carolyn Hilton who held a special place in her heart.
