Harold Newton

Mr. Harold Jack Newton, age 91, formerly of Cheraw, SC, entered into rest on Friday, June 8, 2018. Funeral Services will be 12:00 PM Tuesday, June 12, 2018 from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Dr. Lindsey Powell with burial to follow in Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends Tuesday from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Newton was born June 8, 1927 in Rockingham, NC a son of the late Connie Ila and Offie Ursery Newton. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War and a retired employee of Dewitt Trucking Company. Mr. Newton was a member of the VFW in Cheraw, SC and a member of Lower Macedonia Baptist Church. In addition to spending time with his family, Harold also enjoyed working word search puzzle books.

The last surviving member of his immediate family, Mr. Newton was preceded in death by his brothers.

Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Mamie Elizabeth Newton of Myrtle Beach, SC; daughters, Patsy (Greg) Fowler of Little River, SC, and Ila Newton of PA; step-son, Donald (Anna) Gainey of Glendale, AZ; 3 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, and 6 step-great grandchildren; special godchild, Clint Welch of Chesterfield, SC.
