DECEASED: Mr. Harold E. Rivers, age 83, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at his home

FUNERAL SERVICE: 3:00 PM, Friday, April 3, 2015 at Providence Baptist Church

INTERMENT: will follow in the Church Cemetery

VISITATION: 7:00 – 9:00 PM, Thursday, April 2, 2015 at Providence Baptist Church

HISTORY: Mr. Rivers was born January 17, 1932 in Pageland, SC, a son of the late Thomas and Eva Pigg Rivers. He was a retired commercial interior construction worker and was also an Army veteran of the Korean War. Harold was a dedicated member and longtime commander of the Smith Graves American Legion Post 92. He was also a member of the Chesterfield County Chapter of the Veterans of Foreign War. Harold was an active member of Providence Baptist Church, where he had served as Treasurer, Deacon, and Teacher for many years. In addition to his parents, Harold was also preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Mary Lou Clark Rivers and by his four brothers, J.L, T.A., Rawlie, and Leon Rivers.

2 Sons: Eddie (Pam) Rivers of Wingate, NC and Jerry Rivers of Pageland, SC
2 Daughters: Wanda (Phillip) Carr of Linville, VA. and Rhonda (Robert) Sweatt of Marshville, NC
Grandchildren: Joseph (Megan) Rivers, Leanna (Kevin) Plyler, Kevin Sweatt, Steven Sweatt, Kimberly Rivers, Katie Rivers, Morgan Carr, Lauren Carr, and Jenna Carr.
Great Grandchildren: Riley, Reece, and Bentley Rivers, and Jayden and Braylon Plyler.
Special adopted daughter: Abbey Irvine and her sons, Nathan, Christopher, and Daniel Irvine
2 Sisters-in-law: Bessie Lee Rivers and Ann Austin
Special caretaker: Beth Hinson of Wingate, NC
